Our Journey

Mid 2025 · The Beginning

Guru Nanak Institute of Technology did not have an ACM Student Chapter. A small group of motivated students from the Department of Information Technology, along with supportive faculty, recognized the need for a focused and thoughtful computing community on campus.

November 2025 · The Initiative

Students collectively decided to apply for an official ACM Student Chapter. This phase involved planning, faculty coordination, and a strong commitment to building something meaningful and long-lasting.

December 2025 · Formation

ACM officially sanctioned the ACM GNIT Kolkata Student Chapter. A core committee was formed, bringing together dedicated student leaders and founding members, growing into a team of 15 committed members.

January 29, 2026 · The Launch

On 29th January 2026, the GNIT ACM Kolkata Student Chapter will be officially launched—marking the foundation of a community dedicated to strong fundamentals, collaboration, and responsible computing.
